More AI Code — npm beta

The AI coding agent for your terminal

Describe a task in plain words. It reads your code, edits the files, runs commands and tests, and asks before anything risky — on the model you choose: a key from more than 30 providers, a subscription sign-in where the provider offers one, or a model on your own computer.

Install with npm: npm install -g @moreai/code

Keep the -g: a local install adds the package to the current folder and creates no moreai command.

Get started in three steps

An account is optional for local work. Signing in adds cloud sessions, sync with the web app and More AI dictation.

  1. Install — One global npm package brings the moreai command and the small background engine it starts on your machine. npm install -g @moreai/code
  2. Connect a model — The first launch lists the providers. Type to search, then paste an API key, sign in, or pick a local model from Ollama or LM Studio. A provider key already in your environment is offered first. cd your-project && moreai
  3. Say what you want done — Type the task as you would tell a colleague. Every file it reads, each edit as a diff and every command with its output appear as it works. Keep typing to steer it; Esc interrupts.

Built for work you can leave running

Reading, editing and running tests is the everyday part. These are the parts that decide whether you can look away.

Any model, one agent

More than 30 providers, local models through Ollama or LM Studio, and any OpenAI- or Anthropic-compatible endpoint. Switch with /model mid-session and pin the ones you use.

An auto mode that decides

Clear rules plus an AI check against what you actually asked: safe steps run, and anything it cannot show to be safe is declined with a reason instead of a wall of prompts.

A check on every package

Dependencies it installs are checked against the OSV malware database. A version published less than 72 hours ago waits for you, and install scripts stay off when it installs on its own.

Secrets stay out of the prompt

API keys and tokens in files, command output and web pages are masked before the model reads them. When the agent writes a file back, the real values return.

It checks its own work

After changing code it runs your project’s checks — the typecheck in package.json, cargo check, go vet or the command in AGENTS.md — and fixes what fails before it reports back.

Helpers in parallel

For broad questions it starts several read-only helper agents, each on its own line with what it is doing, its tokens and its time.

The cloud when you want it

With an account, a task moves to a cloud session with your uncommitted changes, keeps going with the laptop closed and comes back as a new branch or pull request.

Voice and 35 languages

Ctrl+T dictates straight into the prompt, and the interface — menus, cards and help — speaks your language.

Hand a broad question to helpers

Each helper gets its own line: what it was asked, what it is doing now and, when it finishes, its tool count, tokens and time with the first line of its report. Helpers only read; the main agent makes the changes. Start a task with @explore, @scout or @general to hand it to one directly.

moreai "@explore how does the billing webhook verify signatures?"

You decide how much it does on its own

Five access modes, switched with Shift+Tab or --mode. On macOS and Linux, the commands it runs on its own go through an OS sandbox.

plan
Reads the code and proposes a plan; builds it once you approve.
read-only
Reads and answers. Changes nothing.
accept-edits
Edits files on its own and asks before every command.
auto
Works on its own; anything it cannot show to be safe is declined.
full
Runs everything except a small set of destructive commands.

One agent, wherever you work

The CLI starts a small engine on your machine. The More AI desktop app uses the same engine, and your account carries the work to the web and the cloud.

The desktop app

Free for macOS, Windows and Linux. A session you start in the terminal is waiting in its Code section, with diffs, a terminal and a built-in browser; Home adds documents, spreadsheets and scheduled tasks.

The web app

Sign in and your conversations and tasks are at app.more-ai.net on any computer or phone.

Cloud sessions

A task runs on a More AI model or on a provider key you allow for cloud use. It keeps going with the laptop closed and comes back as a new branch — your own branch and edits are never touched. In a GitHub or GitLab repository the pull request opens with your own gh or glab login.

  • moreai cloud run "add tests for the parser" — move this folder into a cloud session
  • moreai cloud — your cloud sessions and their state
  • moreai cloud finish <id> — bring the work back

Commands worth knowing

/help inside a session lists everything; these cover most days.

In the terminal

  • moreai — interactive session in this folder
  • moreai setup — guided setup: model, account, services
  • moreai auth — connect or change a provider
  • moreai login — optional More AI account
  • moreai doctor — check that everything is ready
  • moreai update --install — install a newer version

In scripts and pipes

  • moreai -p "summarise the open TODOs" — run once, print the answer
  • git diff | moreai -p "review this diff" — review whatever you pipe in
  • moreai -p --json "add types to utils.ts" — one JSON event per line
  • moreai -c — continue this folder’s newest session

Questions

Do I need a More AI account?

Not for local work: install it, connect a provider key or a local model, and start. An account adds cloud sessions, sync of your sessions to the web app, More AI dictation and Google services for the agent.

What does it cost?

The CLI is free. Model usage is billed by your provider at its own price, on your key; a local model costs nothing beyond your hardware. Cloud is the subscription layer, and the available cloud features are free during the beta.

Where are my keys kept?

Provider keys are encrypted with a key held in your system keyring: Keychain on macOS, Credential Manager on Windows, the Secret Service on Linux. In the cloud, a key is used only for runs you start there.

Does it work on Windows?

Yes, with Node.js 22 or newer. The OS sandbox for commands is available on macOS and Linux; on Windows, choose the access mode that matches how much you want to approve yourself.

How is it different from the desktop app?

It is the same agent on the same engine. The desktop app puts a window around it — diffs, a terminal, a browser, documents and scheduled tasks — and a session can move between the two.

What does “beta” mean here?

Version 0.1 is published on npm with the beta tag. It is in daily use, but commands and screens can still change between releases. moreai update tells you when a newer version is out; report problems to support@more-ai.net.

How do I uninstall it?

Run npm uninstall -g @moreai/code. The background engine notices and stops by itself once nothing is using it.

How does it compare with Claude Code, OpenCode or Codex CLI?

All three are capable coding agents. The differences that matter most are which models you can use, how work you leave running is guarded and where a cloud run executes. Our comparison pages go through them with links to each product’s own documentation.

Claude Code, Codex and OpenCode are names of Anthropic, PBC, OpenAI, L.L.C. and Anomaly Innovations, Inc. respectively, used here only to identify compatible third-party agents. More AI is independent and is not affiliated with, endorsed or sponsored by these companies.

Install it in one line

npm install -g @moreai/code

Then run moreai in any project folder.
