What cookies and local storage are

Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. "Local storage" is a similar browser mechanism that lets a site remember information on your device. The desktop application does not use browser cookies; it stores its settings and data in your operating system's application-data folder instead.

How we use them

We use these technologies for a small number of purposes:

• Essential — to keep you signed in to the web app (a stored sign-in token) and to remember preferences such as your chosen language and theme. The Service does not work properly without these.
• Analytics — to understand, in aggregate, how the website and web app are used and to detect errors. Our analytics provider (PostHog) may set cookies; in the web app it may also record masked session replays in which the text you type is hidden. The marketing website may also use privacy-friendly or tag-based analytics to measure traffic.
• Payments — when you buy a plan or credits, the checkout runs on Paddle's own domain and Paddle sets the cookies it needs to process the payment and prevent fraud. Those cookies are governed by Paddle's cookie and privacy policies.

Your choices

You can control cookies through your browser settings, including blocking or deleting them — though blocking essential storage may stop the web app from keeping you signed in, and blocking Paddle's may stop a purchase from completing. In the desktop app, you can turn analytics off in Settings → Privacy. Where the law requires consent for non-essential cookies, we will ask for it and you can change your choice at any time.
